Local legislators recently presented to the Woodside One Wheelers a U.S. and Maine flag flown in honor of the group to carry in the 2012 National Independence Day Parade in Washington D.C.
The unicycle group is made up of 80 local students from the Woodside Elementary School in Topsham. They recently performed during the Brunswick-Topsham Memorial Day parade, as well as during a Maine Red Claws halftime show.
Sen. Seth Goodall, D-Sagadahoc, and Reps. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, and Kerri Prescott, R-Topsham, spoke to the unicycle team who will be representing Maine in the national parade.
“We are extremely proud of you,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter to the group. “Your dedication and talent has become legendary and we are thrilled that you will be representing our state. We wish you the best of luck in this exciting opportunity and all future endeavors.”
